Removal of old back boiler

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

We recently moved into a property which had no gas central heating. A few weeks ago we had an entire central heating system fitted with a combi boiler etc. The gas engineer disconnected the old back boiler in the fireplace and removed cylinder and tank etc. I assume this now means the back boiler is safe to be removed as ideally I would like to put it a wood burner in the fireplace. My concern is that the back boiler looks very firmly built into the fireplace, is there a risk of the chimney collapsing if I try to remove it myself and are there any other risks involved I've failed to mention? If it's not a job I can do, who would I go about contacting to remove it? Many thanks in advance for any responses.

Just a heads up check closure plate before removing the old kit within chimney breast, sometimes they were asbestos on the older properties.
