Water hammer - will this break my pipes?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.17 PM
Hi, just bought an LG washing machine and now i have loud water hammer noises in the pipes upstairs when the machine lets in and shuts off the water. My old hotpoint washing machine didn't do this. I live in an area on the south coast which is renowned for having low water pressure. I've fitted a water hammer arrestor to the inlet valve and this lessens the noise a bit but not by much. Can this be fixed? Should i take the machine back? Or should i just ignore it (can water hammer damage the pipes)? Don't want to risk a flood in the future. Thanks in advance for any advice.

You need to fix the water supply pipe with pipe clips.
