Bathroom Fitting

Shower former for level access shower area with tile over

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

I want to refit my bathroom with a level access shower area, replacing the existing bath tub. This area is 850mm by 1700mm approx. I have been looking at formers with built in gradient and tile slots. My question is do I really need a former the size of the old bath tub area or can 850 by 850 be enough as long as the whole area is tanked? We obviously will only be showering down one end of this area. You advice and ideas welcomed.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi you do not need to to make the area as large as the bath tub the former shower can be off any size you require as long as all Area is tanked where ever the wet area may be

Need to see if your joist are adequate to take the waste away to the drain regarding notching limits. You might be lucky and joists run inline with either the drain or outside wall.
