Fitting extractor hood where socket is too far away
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.38 PM
My kitchen is being fitted and all plastering and painting has been done. I didn't ask my sparky to fit a socket above the extractor as I was hoping to use a nearby socket to the left. The cable is barely going to reach, so I wondered if you knew if regulations would allow me to use an extension lead from the wall socket and put plug and extension socket in the cupboard above the extractor hood. Thanks Paul

The regulations don’t apply when it’s a bodge job. Seriously though, it’s going to look a bit naff isn’t it, but if you want to do it, go ahead.

Is the nearest socket part of the ring? If so is there a chance you could run a radial off it with trunking and hide behind the units? Nearer to the extractor? I sympathise, just a suggestion anyway! Good luck
