Damp Proofing

Smell of damp in house following rain

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

We get a smell similar to that of damp plaster in the front rooms of our house whenever we get any sort of rain. Even the lightest shower/drizzle causes the smell. Have new guttering so not that, plus sometimes there isn’t really enough rain to get a flow in guttering and we still get odour. No sign of damp on walls, or mould or lifting paint. Any thoughts on what may be causing it? Thanks Graham

Have you checked to see if your gutters are blocked? This may lead to water ingress into the house as it has nowhere else to go?
