I want to replace a window with french doors in my kitchen - do I need permission?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.17 PM
My kitchen is dark so I would like to put in french doors where the existing main window is and then creating another window on the adjacent wall. Do I need to contact the council about this? Thank you in advance.

If you are in a council house then yes if it’s privately owned then you don’t have to inform anyone, a qualified bricky will need to do the work as you will more than likely need steels putting in. Stu

No you don’t need permission if it’s owned by you but a lintel will be needed as opening made bigger

As long as you are living in a privately owned home then no. Just ensure a professional builder does the work and puts sufficient steel support in.
