Toilet pan fixings

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.38 PM

I have a toilet pan screwed to a tiled floor. It's slightly moves even though screws up tight. If mastic around base of toilet pan to tiled floor. Will that stop the slight movement. There is a 5mm gap behind cystern and it keeps nocking wall when toilet in use. What's best way of resolving this annoying nock.

Depends upon the type of pan fixings you have. Most toilets are 1 of 2 types either screws angled at 45 degrees and go straight through the securing holes in the base into the usually wooden floor or these https://www.drench.co.uk/drench-toilet-pan-fixing-kit?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyKTwwdnc2wIVrbztCh1ocQaAEAQYASABEgLutvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds which are fixed to the floor either with screws for timber or hammer fixings for concrete floors. If you have the first type undo them and provided the waste and supply pipe allow you to do so move the whole toilet back and refix. May have to use bigger screws. For the second type you need to lift the toilet up and clear of the plastic brackets, again move these back and refix. This should bring cistern flush with wall and allow it to be secured. Check before fixing that the cistern cover fits they usually mean the cistern has to sit slightly off the wall.
