Central Heating

Not sure if thermostat is supposed to be wireless

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.17 PM

Hi I know this seems like a really stupid question but I'm struggling to find anything on google and I'm technologically challenged. I have a baxi duo tech combi boiler and a Boss Therm BPS242 thermostat. The thermostat is wall mounted but runs off AA batteries. I recently took it off the wall and accidentally threw the wall mount away. I now can't get my central heating to come on. On the back of the thermostat are three golden coloured....I guess pins would be the best word and I these are what slotted in to the wall mount. I stupidly assumed because of the lack of wires and the batteries that the thermostat was wireless so threw the wall mount away after re decorating. Were the pins what actually connected the thermostat to the boiler though?? If so will any boss therm (Siemens) thermostat (I would prefer to get a proper wireless one) work with my current boiler??

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I believe the unit has lost signal with the relay (next to the boiler) my advice would be to renew the batteries and check for any guides online (type in model number on google for manual) for a re-linking sequence.

Usually they just need rebinding if the thermostat is wireless, procedure is here: https://w3.siemens.co.uk/buildingtechnologies/uk/en/building-automation/residential-controls/documentation/Documents/BPS242RF%20and%20BRTRF%20Binding%20Doc.pdf
