Bannister replacement

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.38 PM

We have a terrible old fashioned bannister on our stairs. The stair are the type with two initial steps then a left turn and up the majority of steps, then another left turn and a few remaining steps. The offending bannister is solid (no spindles) and starts at the first turn, running up to the last turn. We don't want to go crazy with it, but is it possible to replace just the bulky Parr of the bannister (it turns to spindles right at the top) section of the bannister with spindles and a new rail? Not sure if it would be necessary to replace it all. Any carpenters could give an indication about the size of job? I'll try and and tach pictures if I can. Thanks Nick
