Boiler cuts out when having a shower and water goes very cold, doesn't always fire back up though shower still on

Replaced shower as thought it was thermostat - makes no difference. Sometimes boilder doesn't kick in at all and have to turn on upstairs tap first to draw hot water through then will sometimes stay hot. Other times will knock off again. Is a Combi boiler

it sounds like your diverter valve not working correctly best get a qualified boiler service engineer to check it for correct operation make sure they are gas safe first

Sounds like it may need the divertor valve or diaphragm changed
