Fencing

Concrete Foundations on my side of the boundary

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.17 PM

My neighbours, who are extremely difficult, have objected to my attaching wires to their fence to support a climbing bush.We have had wires attached to this fence for some 20 years with no problems - I know they are just being awkward! I can easily overcome the problem by putting in wooden posts right next to their concrete posts, on my side of the boundary, and run some wires across them, but, when the neighbour put his fence in (about 2 years ago) the concrete foundations they put in for their supporting posts encroach into my garden, so I can't put in wooden posts right next to their support posts. He certainly didn't have any permission to do this (in fact I wouldn't even have noticed except for his complaint about my wires on his fence). Is he allowed to encroach into my garden like this, and do I have the right to ask him to remove the concrete from my side of his posts so I can solve the wire issue he is complaining about? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you put the timber post inbetween the two existing posts as close to fence as possible then you wouldn’t need to move concrete.
