Damp Problem - Wet Patches on Downstairs Internal Wall - Possible Leak?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.17 PM

I live in a terraced house in the Victoria Park area of Cardiff which I believe was built about 100 years ago. Downstairs there is an internal wall that divides the living room and dining room which has been showing wet patches. These patches are most obvious on the end of the wall in the hallway where they can be seen to dry out at times and then become damp again. The wet marks are approximately 1 metre from the floor and can be seen running in a straight line on both sides of the wall. There are no other obvious signs of damp around the rest of the house (apart from the odd condensation patch). I assumed this was caused by something leaking upstairs but we have had the bathroom re-fitted and the damp patches are still there. Can anyone suggest how I go about locating the source of this water? Thanks David

Is the damp on ground floor? If it’s 1.2metres max from the floor it means it could be rising damp, if it it it need to be rendered & waterproofed to stop any more problems
