Emulsion paint won’t cover new pink plaster.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.17 PM

Emulsion paint won’t cover new pink plaster, The pink plaster is well dry, most of the plaster has taken the paint well but there are patched/blotchy areas, some larger than others, I firstly applied a plaster primer and then a watered down emulsion and I have now applied four top coats, apart from the waste of time I’m getting very despondent, “Can anybody out there Help Me”? Many thanks to you all, "The primer was from screw fix and was pre mixed, sanding down now, I'll let you know how it goes... Thank you, I rubbed it all down with sandpaper, reapplied a watered down emulsion and then another three coats of white emulsion and the job after a week is done, again thank you for your advice.

Sounds like the areas that won’t take the paint have been polished a little too much by your plasterer.. what you’ll have to do is get some fine sandpaper and rub the affected areas then you’ll find the paint should stick!

Did the primer not need diluting? Sounds like it hasn’t been miscoated properly

Sounds as if the walls have been over polished by the plaster best to rub affected areas lightly with 180 grit sand paper and hopefully the emulsion will key to the effected areas hope this helps Bobby Watson Watson Decor
