Replacing part of a lean to conservatory

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.17 PM

I have a two sided lean to conservatory (sun room really). It is full glazing down to the floor. It is only two sided as one side come of the rear of the house and the other of a kitchen extension. One side goes onto my driveway with a single door - which I want to keep. The other side goes onto the rear garden and has sliding doors, which makes it difficult (impossible) to put up any blinds. The sliding door is very heavy and I am finding it extremely hard to open at times (elderly with arthritis). Is it possible to replace just the one side of the conservatory using french doors, or do I have to replace the whole structure. It is 3 metres square. If I had to replace, the whole structure, approximately what sort of figure are we talking about?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Buffy_86. There would be no issue with just replacing one side for French doors and possibly a side screen or 2 depending on how wide the door opening is as you can't really get French doors too much bigger than 2m. You can get blinds that actually fit between the double glazed units but as you can imagine they are expensive but they must be an issue with the sliders themselves as they should push back with just a couple of fingers if fitted properly. Depending on what style roof and material it is glazed with a 3mx3m conservatory Hope this helps. Kind regards, Tim Hutchings
