Corners don’t meet on newly plastered walls

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.17 PM

I’ve just had a large room plastered. 3 of the corners don’t look right. There is a 3mm gap instead of a straight edge if that makes sense. It’s as though beading has been used on both sides as opposed to a corner beading so where they meet, there is a gap. Can this be fixed? We were wanting to paint but it won’t be possible to paint over it.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Are you referring to an exterior angle e.g.. the edge of a chimney breast or an internal e.g. when two walls meet at 90 degrees. If the second there should be no gap or beading, the two should be plastered and finished neatly with a angle trowel and small brush. If it's the first, there should be one angle bead on the edge, nailed securely and brushed to a neat finish once plastered.

Hi, you should get the tradesman back to do it properly, he could either chissel out the stop beads, replace with angle beads and plaster them in, or put an angle bead over the top and plaster both sides and feather them into the walls, you could use painters caulk to fill hole but it may be too deep and you may not get a decent corner.
