Can a light switch be moved 5cm to the side on a corner wall so that it's only 6cm from the edge?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.39 PM

I have a light switch which is currently 12cm away from the corner of a wall. I want to move the switch around 5cm to the right to fit in a wall length mirror. This will mean the switch is 6cm away from the edge of the wall. Is that placement alright, does it comply with current building regulations?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Absolutely you can .infact under current regs as it would be within 150mm of the corner you would not require RCD protection. Hope that helps Matt Gatwick Electrical

You can move light switch as long as the cables are aligned horizontally or vertically to the light switch. These are the safe zone for switch / sockets.
