My heating won't work but I have hot water.

I can see no obvious leak near the boiler, when the heating were working the pressure when the system was cold was always pretty low (lower than 1.5bar). I kept re-pressurising the boiler but the pressure kept going down in a day or two. Last night the heating won't fire on. Do I have to get a new boiler or is it possible to fix it? And will fixing the boiler cost more than getting a new one? Thank you

Hi, the best advice i can say is get a gas safe engineer out, search gassaferegister.co.uk for your area, and they will check few things. could be your pressure relief valve,expansion vessel,or a leak on the system! all aspects need to be ok for appliance to maintain system pressure for the functions. can be a simple task to fix,breakdowns with new parts and labour can be between £100-£400+ so if your boilers had parts before,and is old, could be better to go for a new condensing model,and gain the efficiency!

If the pressure is falling there is obviously a leak , it could be from the pressure relief valve (look outside at the 15mm copper tube) this can be replaced quite cheaply, If parts are available for a boiler it is always repairable ,only age and condition will effect this decision.
