Hanging Louvre Doors

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.56 PM

We have a loft conversion where the opening to the bedroom is an open stairway (wide enough - but taller - than a standard door frame) I wanted to add a little privacy, I want to hang 2 louvre doors (hinged centrally to create bifold as the landing space is small). Would I be able to hang off one side off the wall? Or put in a wooden baton to attach the hinges to? Or would I need to install a full door frame? Thanks! Aimee

Hi Aimee, personally for the sake of £20ish I would put a door frame in, plus the bi-fold door requires a runner on the top section of door frame so its not just floating. otherwise it would put strain on the hinges. Hope this helps Steve

Hard to say without seeing it personally, but I would most likely attach some sort of wooden support to the wall first then attach the hinges to that.
