Mira Element Thermostatic Mixer Shower - Control Lever Problem

Hope someone can help me. Shower has always worked perfectly well until a friend used it and the blue/red inner dial was out of sync (do not know what they did) but it still worked fine until (a year later - few days ago) now only cold water. Got someone out to look at it but they were not experienced enough to sort it out & also dropped the hub retaining screw down the plug hole. They have put the control lever back on with a temporary screw but can't get concealing cap to fit but it still works with only cold water. I feel this should be a fairly small/basic repair but might not be and may not be worth repairing at all. I am hoping to find someone with experience of these showers and can advise. Thank you.
