Front of house rendering that crumbles away?!

Hi there, any advice appreciated... Got some guys to remove stone cladding and pebbledash and render the front of my house 2 months ago. They seemed to do a very nice job and it looks great. However, today I was going through my side gate bringing a bit of a wood, and the wood caught the corner of the house/render, and quite a considerable bit (ten pound note size) came away.The bit that came off in my hand I could crumble to pieces in my hand. On closer inspection of the corner, I could see that at some points the render was slightly 'over' the edge of the house/bricks, which would explain why I caught a bit as I passed (and perhaps explain why a bit came away). Where it came away, I ran my finger over the exposed area as it's pretty crumbly. I also ran my finger vertically up and down the corner and most of it was tough/concrete like, but some of it was dusty/crumbly. Went around the front of the house, knocking on it and inspecting for damage, and there doesn't seem to be any issue. So....sign of a general issue with the rendering, or just a 'catchy' corner and a weak bit?
