What would cause boiler to shut down day after working fine with replaced expansion vessel

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.16 PM

Potterton Suprima 60 boiler fine after leaking expansion vessel replacement - next day cuts out before igniting. Assume air lock but if so can't release by opening pressure valves, spigot drain etc- mystified. Pump and thermostat valves come to life when power turned on, slight sounds of water movement then shuts down, all within 1 minute. 2 Lights displayed are block (I.e. Non-flashing) red and green for about 10 seconds then just block red Fan does not start but works fine direct from mains supply so PCB fault?? - no visible damage to PCB and only 6 months old so seems unlikely. Can anyone tell me what obvious (to gas engineer) thing I'm missing?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It tis clear that you are trying to undertake your own boiler repairs which is not only illegal but you are putting yourself at risk carrying out fault diagnostic's as you have stated regarding the fan. I would now strongly suggest you invite a Gas Safe engineer who specialises in boiler breakdown's to attend to investigate and make good any repairs, as you may cause more harm then good! Please take note any other heating engineers before posting anymore replies that we cannot condone the over enthusiastic DIY'r from problem solving there own boiler repairs/diagnostic's however well meaning there intensions are!
