Intumesent Paint ?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.36 PM
Hi, We have had a loft conversion and been told we need to paint our pine doors with intumescent paint. Any recommendations about what brand of paint to use ? and what top-coat can be used to finish the doors but not affect the intumescent paint ? Thanks for any advice ! One of the answers below from Darren says we wouldnt be able to open the door in a fire if we use this paint - is this the case ? Thanks again

yours Doors should be fire rated doors of at least 30 mins , to meet regs , to paint doors with paint as stated could cause doors not be able to be opened in a fire situation , you need make sure that the paint you use isn’t the type that expands on heat as those types are avable as well .
