Damp wall to paper or paint?

After a leak from a tank in the loft (now fixed) I have a few damp walls. They are stud walls which have previously been painted straight onto the plasterboard. I have peeled all the loose paint off but left with an eyesore I don't think filler will cover! So I'm thinking make a wallpaper feature of this wall. If I line with lining paper first. Will the paper stick to the damp parts? We are preparing the house to go on the market. Should I use a damp seal paint first? Thanks in advance. Sara There is no actual mould the wall just feels damp still. Should I still apply a fine coat of filler? Will a patch missing approx 3 layers paint show through lining paper and then wallpaper? Thanks again

Hi Sara yes it is recommended to use some primer sealer first to stop the stain coming through again and make good the walls prepare them before you hang the wall paper other wise you will see the imperfections on the finishing surface on the features paper.

Hi. If its still damp? I.e. moisture present. Then the advise is to not attempt to re-decorate till fully dry. Minor damage to the dry wall can be sorted by applying zinsser gardz first to seal and then fill/surface will easifill etc. Then abraded smooth. Done well it may well not need lining paper but if it does, 1200 grade, ready mixed adhesive, 100 % pasted, paying particular attention to seams and sizing wall first with pva (1:5 pva:water)
