Water tank in roof space

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.39 PM

Hi all, Can anyone tell me if my water tank in the attic should have a lid on it? I am currently having bad condensation in the attic and I have just discovered that the tank doesn't have a lid. It is wrapped in plastic and some sort of insulation...and instead of a lid it is covered over with this same plastic sheeting, but it isn't actually 'sealed' so to speak. Coincidently ...the condensation on our rafters is only in the surrounding area where the tank is...and the rest of the attic is dry. Should this tank be properly sealed?...and if not...could it cause the problem that I am experiencing? Many thanks Andrew

Yes the tank should have a lid. The water inside needs to be covered. It should also be insulated.
