Why does my water take so long to get hot?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.36 PM

Hello. Your thoughts and advice would be much appreciated. The mains water in my house takes forever to get hot. Wasting time and water. Takes almost the same time upstairs near the boiler as it does in the kitchen downstairs. The boiler is old but just serviced...working fine. Why would my water take so long to get hot? Any ideas? How can I get it to heat up faster? Thank you in advance. Ben

Hi there, this can be a few things that is keeping your boiler to produce poor hot water, 1, your boiler has a secondary heat exchanger for hot water this could be restricted/ blocked & needs to be cleaned or replaced. 2. Your boiler might have a flow sensor or flow switch that is not telling your boiler that hot water is calling, needs to be replaced. 3. Gas pressure is low at boiler due to blockage/ restriction in gas pipe or faulty gas valve. A service would not cure this fault you will need to have a technical engineer visit to give a proper diagnostics. I hope this helps
