Who is liable for damage to my tarmac
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.56 PM
My neighbour's contractors have dug up my tarmac to lay gravel boards for fencing to go on top. Who is liable for the repair to my tarmac please? Should the neighbour pay for the damage or do I have to attempt to get the contractor to do the repair (they'll be gone tomorrow)? I feel that as my neighbour instructed them and has overseen the work, he should sort out the repair and pay for it

Your neighbours should be doing the repairs as the contractors would of told your neighbours what that would have to do and for them to ok the works

Sorry your incorrect in this case. Your neighbor is not liable and should not pay for any damages,
simply because he did not cause the damage.
He paid for work to be done correctly and professionally and it wasn’t.
The responsibility in this case is solely with the contractor,
you should seek as much information as possible about the company and look to be paid from them.
