Block paving over concrete

I have a concrete drive with a small slope which has been down for 20 years. I have about 110mm minus the 50mm block, leaving me with 60mm depth. Would it be better to lay a thin compacted level of type 1 followed by 30-40 mm of sharp sand, or just the sharp sand, or break up the concrete base and start again. This is a large area of about 100sq mtrs.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would buy the finist sceplings ther called limestone to dust lay them use a waker plate pound the edge so it’s all nice and solid the concrete underneath is your strength and then lay your sharp sand I hope this has solved your question many thanks

Better too break up the old concrete and start from scratch cause you neeed the 50mm for the sharp sand

I would start again. if you make up the level with type1 on top of the existing concrete it won’t bind together so will create an unstable layer. The sand will sink though that layer over time.
