Oil boiler - tradesman unable to fix

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.38 PM

I have ongoing problems with an oil fired boiler. A local firm have made 4-5 visits to attempt to fix it. They haven't been able to tell what is wrong with it. We are being charged for the call out fees and a replacement part which did nothing to solve the problem. The invoice is several hundred pounds. Am I wrong that this seems excessive when I have nothing to show for this investment?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You should be paying for their expertise not for someone to mis-diagnose the problem. If we're honest, we all have the occasional problem that is difficult to diagnose and beyond our skills and it's then that the integrity of the company is called upon. They should hold up their hand, explain that they are unable to help, thank you for the cup of tea and walk away without charging.

You should be kept fully informed as to what the problem is, how it will be fixed and an estimate of cost and timescale.

Post the job on here, if you live in the west country I would be happy to resolve this matter once and for all! NB: It seems they have reached an impasse or they are just throwing parts at it hoping that one will fix the issue(s)!
