Hello, My name is John, I am managing director of GlosBuild LTD. There are the 5 basic options of driveways i'll run through them for you... NO.1 Block paving pros: Block paving is my personal favourite when laid right with so many colours and designs it looks fantastic! Good for drainage. Cons: Block paving is maintenance! I'm afraid block paving needs cleaning and sealing every 12-18 months. NO.2 Tarmac Pros: Tarmac is very hard wearing. If you have a lot of traffic on your driveway as well as heavy vehicles (motor homes / lorries) I would recommend tarmac. Cons: From experience I have found many people do not like tarmac because the colour fades with time from black to a dull grey. (note tarmac can be broken up with a block paving boarder which is becoming very popular) NO.3 Resin Pros: Resin driveways always look out of this world! Its all because of the colour choice you have, the most popular are a light yellow/Cotswold colour. Cons: Resin does look fantastic but if you go for a very light colour you see any dirt from a mile away. If you are laying resin on a small driveway with a lot of car traffic in one place you begin to see tyre marks,so be careful of the colour you choose. NO.4 Concrete in print driveway Pros: Concrete in print driveways look great if laid right. If you want something you don't have to touch for a while I would recommend it. Cons: Personally I do not like concrete in print because of the the colour fading and cracks in your driveway due to the ground settling, also VERY slippy in the wet! NO.5 Gravel Pros: Gravel is good for two things: 1.cost effective 2. very good for drainage Cons: Gravel does tend to get every where. I would not recommend it for a area with a lot traffic near a pavement. I hope this helps!

I’d recommend pattern imprinted concrete as it’s one of the most durable driveways too have as its doesn’t sink like blockpaving and if installed properly it shouldn’t crack cheers.

Good evening, As above have replied there are pros and cons with most finish surfaces, and all will need maintaining at some point. If you want to extend your driveway into a double drive then I would recommend digging out the grass to the depth of 250mm,lay down a weed membrane, then build up the area with MOT type one at a depth of 150mm, then compact well, and then lay tarmac at a depth of 100mm, so it’s flush with the existing concrete surface after compaction. Then resin bound the old concrete area and new tarmac area all in one at a later date.
