Fencing

side/front garden.. Fencing on almost open plan estate.

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 2.56 PM

i would like to put a fence as high a I could go 5 or 6ft to stop people using my garden as a toilet on their way home and kids using it to run in and out for fun making our dogs go mad. Our estate is more open plan but fences have popped up here & there. I have a very thick prickly hedge of about 4ft high along the boundary with 4 x metal railing with 4 x brick tower post inbetween each railing on the inside of hedge ( so inside my garden) . I want the hedge and railings down to put a proper fence and gate up. If I I can put a fence up can i put it at the edge of my garden boundary if it is more of an open plan estate?

Hello Diana, If it's an open plan estate you should seek permission from council. I would advice to get in touch with council regarding this issue first. If you did put fence without a permission it could cause issues when reselling the property in the future etc. Regards, Nick
