Pumping expansion vessel pushes the water via drain cock- normal?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.15 PM

Hi I've tried procedure below on Valiant EcoTecPro24 to charge expansion vessel but not sure if I'm doing it right: 1 close off isolation valves flow and return 2 drain the boiler using the drain cock from one of the same valves 3 the pressure gauge on boiler goes to zero 4 the pressure in exp vessel also goes to zero (if I take a reading) 5 leave the drain cock open 6 pump expansion vessel 7 take pressure reading to check its .75 bar 8 close drain cock 9 open up isolation valves 10 refill boiler Problem is with no6. When pumping the vessel water comes out via drain cock and no pressure rises on expansion vessel. I've stopeed closed the drain cock and than managed to pump to 0.75 as advise but wonder if i should fully push the water out first - was i not patient enough? Should pumping the vessel push the water out via drain cock? Thx

Wrong,Wrong,Wrong NEVER Turn off the isolation Valves Drain boiler down to Zero pressure Then with the foot pump to 25 PSI until the water stops coming out of the Drain off. Zero water pressure on the Boiler & 25 PSI on the Foot pump Then Repressure. to 1.2 Bar

You only have to drain the boiler , you don't have to shut of the isolation valves !👍Drain the pressure down to zero then foot pump it up to 25 psi then re pressure the boiler to 1.5 bar Hope this helps 👍
