Removal of a tile to reset it
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.36 PM
I have an old 1930s tiled fireplace that a previous owner has clearly had to regular tiles back onto. There are a few that have been badly done and I would like to get them off and reset them. Is there a product I should use to get a tile off? Unsure how to do it without damage.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

its very difficult to remove tiles with out damaging them, if you were to replace a tile with a new one then this would be a lot easier. The problem you have is that it will be stuck on hard so trying to prize out the tile will damage surrounding tiles, if you are successful in removing with out damage its not ideal re-using the tile again unless you take alot of time scraping and cleaning back the tile. I hope this helps I dont like problems I just find solutions.

Highly unlikely you wil be able to get tiles off without breaking them .. But if you can ( because they have been stuck badly) .. Soak them in a bowl of water for 24 hours ... This will soften the adhesive and make it easier to scrape off ( carefully)!!
Good luck
