Tiles vents and soffit vents

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.15 PM

Hi, I have soffit vents and tile vents installed and was wondering do I need both? Reason we seem to be getting a lot of draught coming from the soffit vents, could they be blocked up? I understand air needs to be circulated in the loft side crawl spaces but there is a lot of cold air penetrating through.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You need to keep the vents for air flow to stop any moisture Blocking them up would cause more condensation as the soffit needs to breathe.

A loft is supposed to be draughty to prevent the build up of condensation creating rot in your timbers . To many people seal up all the draughts in their lofts then moan when they get dapmness throughout the house. Dont seal any vents unless you want to create other issues they are their for a reason. Good luck Alex

Your vents are there for a reason, to ventilate your loft space, to stop any moisture accuring and rotting of your timbers, maybe its worth looking at different vent covers
