What is the best way to secure a stair runner
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.17 PM
Hi, We recently had a stair runner with taped edges fitted. The fitters used staples along each edge (where the tape joins the carpet) to secure it to the tread of each step. The staples look very obvious to me and so I feel a bit dissatisfied with the end product, but when I questioned the fitters they told me that was the proper way to do it. Is this right or could they have done it differently? Thanks.

Staples??? Personally I use grippers cut shorter than normal so the don't show from either end, you can then fit the carpet into the grippers the way you normally would by using a carpet tool. The grippers are there to do a job and hold the carpet in position. They are not seen and looks a lot more professional then someone banging in a few staples!!! tut tut
The other way would to buy some stair rod's or bars which come in all decorative types and are screwed into the stairs. they look excellent when done properly. Google them and I have a feeling you'll be out purchasing some during the week.

Yes like r and b says staples are wrong, I suspect they used an underlay that was too thick and had to hide it
