Restoration & Refurbishment

Relocate kitchen and open up ground floor to become through lounge

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.36 PM

Hi all, we just purchase a property and would like to seek advice on refurbishment. If we want to relocate kitchen from front to rear end of the ground floor taking down the partition wall (non-load-bearing) to become a through lounge, do I need to get Approved Inspector to sign-off my plan? The property is free-hold, 43-year old mid-terrace house in non-conservation area. Anything I need to pay attention with? Thank you!

I will recommend you to get buiIding control involved to sign your work. This way you can have peace of mind that everything is ok, and when you going to sell your house the new buyer may be asking for proof that the work comply with building regulations and then you will have it. Majority of the building inspector are understandable and not so expensive, check this out with you local Council.
