Ways to reduce cost of a tarmac driveway
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.38 PM
I would like to tarmac my driveway, but i'm trying to find ways to reduce costs but still maintain quality. Would one way be to dig the driveway and remove all the soil etc beforehand? Is there anything else that I could do beforehand to reduce the final cost? Thanks

Hi
To reduce the cost of your driveway project exacavating your self and compacting the sub-base would save you money on labour leaving the contractor to lay the blocks etc.
However you could end up being counter productive if you need linear drains pipe installed and if you get levels wrong either too low or too high.
All these things need to be taken into consideration but please note that most drives only take a day to exavate and stone up so you wouldn't be saving a fortune as the skill is in laying the blocks and getting the levels spot on.
Hope this helps.
