How do you refill a Radiator, once it has been drained.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Simply close the drain point and ensure all nuts on valves are tight. Open both valves to allow the water back into the rad at the same time open the vent at the top using a vent key. Wait for all the air to vent (once water sprays from the vent) then close the vent. Depending on the type of heating system you have you will have to do one of two things. If you have a fully sealed pressurised or combi boiler, then you will need to top up the system pressure using the filling loop to around 1.5 bar. If you have a gravity fed system simply wait until the rad is vented and ensure all others get hot when the heating is on.

Hi if you re hang the rad connect the valve back to the rad open the valve so you have water flow then on th top you have a square bleed valve open this to bleed the rad if you have a gravity feed system it will fill if you run a combi boiler you will need to fill the pressure on your filling loop back 1 1/2 bar back on you gauge

Hi, this depends on what type of heating system you’ve got. Assuming you’ve got a combi boiler fitted, then usually you’d have a flexible filling loop attached to the pipework under the boiler. You’d simply “top up the pressure” to the amount required (usually 1.5 bar on a cold system) and then “bleed” your radiator for air. Sometimes you may not have a filling loop attached to the pipework, and you may have what’s called a “built in filling loop”. It’s the same thing, but actually attached on the valves under the boiler.
If you’ve got a conventional system (old boiler with tank system), then simply switching on your cold mains water tap would fill up your tanks in the loft, which would then fill up your radiators. Again you’d have to go round and “bleed” your radiorts for air.
Hope that answers your question :-)

Hi, Draining a radiator involves removing water from the drain valve usually located on the lowest positioned radiator.
To refill it you need to tighten the drain valve back and switch your boiler back on.
Don’t forget to open the radiator vent to remove residual air that has sat in your radiator while it was drained.
