Celotex floor insulation

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.35 PM

The builder who has done my extension has just laid the Celotex ( well some of it is Celotex some is xtratherm) some is 100mm some is two layers of 50mm and a couple of pieces are bowed and the date on them is 2010. I have spoken to him and he assures me that it makes no difference has the correct amount of insulation is down and when the 60mm wet screed is poured it will be all level.it just looks like it's come out of a skip. Am I being fussy?.

Sounds like he is using up old stock its more cost effective to use 1sheet the right size rather than two sheets,it doesn't really matter who the manufacture is as far as its effectiveness apart from looking untidy. he is right in the fact once its covered it will do its job effectively Good luck alex

Hi, it does look like your builder is using old stock up. While this can look unsightly as long as the joints are tight and tape it will do the same job. The question regarding the different manufacturers of the insulation, this isn't a problem and your builder should be able to provide the relevant data sheets for both products.

Bottom line is ask your building control officer as it’s him who will be signing the job off,
