Facia Height Slate roof

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.15 PM

Hello, I am having my roof slated and it looks like the facia height is too high for where the slates will sit. If I put a slate on the eaves batten and slide it to the facia it hits the facia 50mm down. Im not sure how the roofers plan to jump over that facia, the slates wont bend or curl. To help me understand how it should be done can i ask 1) What height should the facia board in relation to the battens? ie should the slate jump up a bit over the facia. Id be grateful for any help. Any questions please ask. Thanks

The Facia would need to be and inch and a half above the top of the Rafter.

This is normal. The fascia board provides a "kick" for the bottom row of slates. The purpose of this is to keep the bottom row of slates/tiles tight to each other and prevent them from sagging, leaving gaps on the bottom edges.
