Salamander pump not pumping cold only hot water

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

We have a salamander ESP 3.0 bar pump. It’s in the bedroom with the hot water tank. Our cold water tank is above in the loft. All worked fine until hubby replaced the ball cock in the cold water tank. I think the cold water tank had a leak.. not sure. We turned the water supply off to the house whilst doing the ball cock replacement Anyway... now our pump only pumps hot water!! It means no cold feed to the bath or 2 showers the pumps feeds to. Desperate to get it working again properly as unable to shower and only bath option is to run a hot bath only and let it cool :( Any advice? It’s currently showing as set to negative head not positive.. is that right? I’ve read should be negative only when feeding loft bathrooms? Can’t get it to go to positive head setting (have tried) Update: ALL SORTED NOW!

Hi to try and address the first issue of the ballcock and the pump only pumping hot water. this would only occurs in instances of chronic aeration or water starvation after water pressure has been increased. the other factor may be there is dirt stuck in the pipes while the change in stopcock took place. However if this was the case led light 2 would be showing. The two things to to do would be to check the the ballcock is not causing a vortex for air to get in. if it is is you need to move the ballcock. and check and clean the bottom of the water tank. i would address those two issues first as you said it was working before you changed the ballcock hope i have been of help many thanks Andy

airlock in pipe ,dirt in filters, negative head or positive this can depend on pipe runs and pipe sizing.
