Should a 3 Year Old Property be Losing Tiles?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.35 PM

We moved in to our property in September 2017, and we're the second owners. The Beast from the East managed to blow off 2 ridge tiles last night. I assume that they are dry fit as the property was only completed in April 2015. Should ridge tiles, or any tiles for that matter, be getting blown off of a 3 year old roof? The property is now outside of the 2 year builders warranty. Am I entitled to ask them to repair it? I am concerned that the roof contains faults and this could continue to happen. We have also lost a flat hanging tile on the bay of the property in windy conditions last October. thanks for your comments John I've since had the roof repaired. The roofer that carried out the work told me that the ridge tiles had not been screwed down!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi mate, I am a bricklayer, but the best advice I could give you is to get in contact with the building company who built your house. Other alternative, is to get in contact with a roofer who can use a stronger mix. I hope you get this fixed. Best wishes, Alex

To be fair unusual storms bring unusual circumstances , Its not a massive job and would fall under insurance probably . Best bet is to have them repaired and ask your roofer to give you a report .
