Boiler leak/loss of pressure with Worcester Greenstar25Si/30Si Combi

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.35 PM

Hi there, Since yesterday our boiler has a slow drip leaking from the front right base. The heating was off this morning and the hot water was quick to run out. The fault light and reset buttons are flashing, and the pressure gauge was low. I have just refilled it using the filling loop in hopes that might do something, but pressure depletes almost as soon as I turn on the hot water. In case this is helpful... the boiler is still humming as if it’s working but pressing ‘reset’ does little else other than pretends to jump start and continue humming again. I understand the problem may be difficult to identify without looking at it in person. But I’m hoping someone might be able to tell me what’s going on and if this is an expensive fix before we call someone out. Thanks for your help. Kylie

Have you checked the Pressure relief pipe - (normally a 15mm copper pipe that goes through the wall to outside and returns to the wall). If you put water into the system, does any water come out of this pipe? You can normally tell as the wall will have staining or damp, but hard to tell in this weather. Also, how quicky does the pressure drop once filled to 1-1.5 bar?
