Beading over vinyl in bathroom
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.37 PM
Hi, I have recently had a bathroom fitted where the bathroom is tiled to the floor (no skirting) and then we have vinyl sheet flooring underneath. I need to put a layer of beading between the tiles and the floor, but obviously I have no skirting to pin the beading too. Do you guys have any tips? I was looking to use clear silicone (CT1) to stick it and also to fill the gap between the lino and the wall tiles at the same time. However, will this be sticky enough to hold off any warps in the wall etc when I fit it?? Any help appreciated Andrew

Hi Andrew,
You should be fine to use clear silicone (CT1 is good but quite expensive, other brands like Dow Corning DC785 or Mapei would do as well) as long as there is enough surface to stick and the floor doesn't move.
Otherwise I would secure the beading with 30mm pins using a pin gun.
Hope this help.

Julius

The honest answer is don't use beading in a wet area, if you have sheet vinyl then it should be cut 2mm from the wall and sealed using anti fungal sealant.
