neighbours plumbing leak damaged my wall - how long (approx) will this take to dry?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

Back in October 2017 my neighbours installed a new shower and channelled the pipes in our joint wall. In our adjoining room we noticed signs of damp including mould and the paintwork started to bubble. The leak was supposedly fixed early November 2017, we used a dehumidifier and in January 2018 after appearing to have no further damage our wall was re-plastered. Early feb parts of the wall that were originally affected by the leak had still not dried, another plumber came and found another leak. This has now been fixed for the last 2 weeks and we are assuming that there are no further leeks as the floorboards have dried out so my questions are: 1)What are the next steps, is it best just to wait for the wall to dry (solid wall bricks or breeze blocks) 2)How long do you think this should take to dry out, we have been told between a few days and 6 months so really unclear 3) if not drying, the next step will be for the neighbours to remove all their tiles to check for other leaks, so i need to if/when this time will come. I would appreciate any advice to help us understand how to move forward.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
