Water damage to carpet, grips and underlay
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.17 PM
Hi, I would like to know if a whole bedroom carpet would have to be replaced due to water damage in one corner, or could the grips and underlay section be replaced and the existing carpet stretched to fit and then cleaned? Thanks.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi first take out the carpet and be careful not damage the carpet because it is wet and not easy to take it out and after that take out the underlay as well and it is not necessary to take out gripers it is ok leave it on place and get the carpet and underlay dry then easy to fit again

9 times out of 10 IF the carpet has been soaked it will lose its shape and become flimsy so when you do go to stretch it it will tear unfortunately
