Advice on splitting a living room into two (partition)
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.37 PM
Hi, we have a 1930s house and we removed a brick wall between the living room and reception room years ago to make it one large room. We would now like to reverse this and split them back into two rooms again, each with their own entrance. When the brick wall was removed an RSJ was installed and one door was removed and blocked up so it was made into one big room with one entrance. Thank you Vine Oil, yes I want the bricked up door reinstated. You were correct that the door was originally in the passage. Is it better to build another brick wall again or use a stud wall (we may want to hang a TV on this in the future). How easy is it for a new door to be put back where it used to be so each room has its own entrance again? (not a door in the stud wall). We want the new room to be a kids playroom / store room so I guess it would need to be soundproofed too. Its seem like a fairly straightforward job for someone, any ideas, tips or considerations please and an idea how long something like this would take? The room is roughly 10 foot wide and average room height. Thank you.
