Sorry a for my stupidity, however after a house fire I feel I have to be very careful. I have a ceiling light with bulbs that should be 20w max. I want to put energy saving bulbs in. 2w led is equivalent to 20w However can I use 8w LED which are equivalent to 60w? Or even 6w or 4w LED. I don't want to cause another fire by fitting wrong bulbs. Had response regarding heat generated by bulb, however as you can appreciate after a house fire I am fully aware of heat generated.but bulbs do not have info on packaging regarding heat. A yes or no answer would be great. Thanks
Hi, the wattage limitations on light fittings are there in reguards to the old element style lamps (bulbs) fitted to the amount of heat they give off to what the light fitting can handle safely. As led lamps give off very little heat (if any/warm at best) in comparison a wide range of wattage variations can be used safely in most light fittings. I hopr this helps

you can fit anything up to the rated value, so yes to 8watt LED lamps.
