check/find wire/cable wich is serving no purpose in my loft.

I had a small electrical job completed in my home and the electrician told me I have a wire leading from my meter which serves no purpose. Is it possi- ble for me to check this myself, and what equipment will I need to do this with simplified instructions please? Many Thanks, Anthony Moody

I would call an electrician to check the cable, never trust anyone that says it serves no purpose.
Or you could buy a multi meter, follow instruction on how to use it,
1)check the tester works on known supply.
2) test to see weather the cable is dead.
3) test the tester again to ensure it’s working.

hi. with power switched off. only suggest of (visual inspection) of said wire if one is not an electrician.
of said wire at other end, if not in use or not completing a circuit,
is capped off would be safe.
if not (confident) of capped of wire call out an electrician to remove...
