Amtico boards popping up!!

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.15 PM

Hi all, I'd really appreciate some advice. I had Amtico spacia laid in 3 bedrooms. 6mm ply was put down and then the Amtico but boards keep coming up. A high temperature glue was used so I don't know what's happened. We've asked the fitter and he's been back out and re glued 2 boards but had no answer as to why and now more are coming up.... We've spent a fortune and are gutted. Please help!

Are they been for 48h in the normal room temperature? At the time of installing and after 24h must to be at normal room temperature. If is too cold, the glue is drying and there are not sticking properly and coming up. Thanks

its also possible that the glue is soaking into the ply so not creating the correct bond. some fitters prime the ply first but not always.

I would almost bet that the adhesives open time was too long before the plank / tile was put in to the glue, HT glue has a short time before you need to lay the floor in to it and essentially the glue will dry out and lose its tack if left too long, Either that or the wrong adhesive has been used, can be many different factors.
