House taking ~5 hours to go from 12.5 - 18 degrees (w/ 1 degree outside) - normal?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.35 PM

We have recently had the boiler replaced in our 5 bed ~2500sq. ft 2 storey detached house and finding the house taking longer that expected to reach temperature once set. The boiler installed is a Logic Heat+ 30 heat only conventional type, with the majority of the 23 radiators being of microbore fin-types with TRVs. The loft insulation is approx. 300mm throughout and the property has had cavity insulation installed, having being built in approx. 2004. Before I go down the route of potentially investigating this and getting traders involved, am I being unrealistic in my performance expectionations? Are there any quick fire ways to determine what could be the cause and where to look, if anywhere? Any experience or advice would be much welcomed.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

From the description your main flow and return pipework from the boiler is too small. The boiler could also be more powerful but with out doing a house calculation I can't say. Also has the house been divided into separate zones, for upstairs and down, with that many radiator's it would be a good idea.

pipe sizing seems to have been neglected ,pipes need to be sized correctly for an installation of the size you describe, micro bore just does not do it,get a heating engineer to visit and calculate your heating needs,i also think your boiler is not big enough.
